Abrams tanks. TPPL technology enables silent watch missions, on
which the crew turns the tank’s engine off to eliminate noise and
heat signature. TPPL batteries can power all tank instruments for up
to 12 hours – 6X longer than a conventional flooded lead acid
battery. When it’s time to return to base, EnerSys TPPL batteries have
the power to restart the engine and recharge rapidly.

Which is why U.S. Navy Virginia Class nuclear submarines use

can be used in close proximity to crews, and their sealed
